Summary: Web developer and project manager. Built second-generation website for
a Palo Alto SAN (Storage Area Networks) startup.
- Project manager of team of six (marketing specialists,
senior technical writer, graphics designer, and systems engineer.)
- Designed & built website with 40 pages.
- Held weekly status meetings, created timelines and schedules, supervised delivery, kept track of milestones and deadlines.
- Developed strategy for the project: For the first stage, I wrote a competitive analysis covering 21 competitors in order to decide what elements were necessary for the new website. In part two, I wrote an executive summary so that the team could decide on how to move forward. For part three, I developed the general layout of the site to give direction for the graphic designer. For part four, I worked with the technical writer and engineers to develop the JavaScript technologies.
- The site was designed for Microsoft IE and Netscape for Linux using CSS and JavaScript browser detect.
- Developed tabs with rollover effect using JavaScript plus other effects.
- Added search engine for easy web page indexing and quick search navigation.
- In order to measure marketing strategies, added Webalyzer log traffic analysis software.
- In order to maintain contact with customers, developed customer database. This was done with an online registration process (offering a free white paper as incentive.) Marketing uses the email addresses to send a monthly newsletter.
- For web searches, began link relevancy for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), indexing strategy, and search engine registration.
